This year, for the first time, Weedmaps organized accompanying tour with active sports – like surfing and skateboarding, which are sharing the same vibes as the cannabis culture. We are proud to be a partner of this activity. It was a crazy ride on the water and in the skate parks with its final stop in Barcelona – the mecca of European skateboarding. Spannabis not only celebrates the business but also recognises the best of the best in the cannabis industry with two awards ceremonies: “The Spannabis Champions Cup” and “Spannabis 2017 Awards Ceremony”. We were partners of the Champions Cup with representation in the jury. In the end of the article, you will see results. How important is the role of a referee, can be seen from this statement on the official website: “Inevitably, judges are going to focus on many subjective elements when scoring a cannabis sample. By that, I mean that the sampler’s preferences are always going to have some influence on his judgment. Which is why it is essential that judges have to be selected carefully and that they are specialized in the category they are scoring. If we entrust the scoring of samples that experienced indoor growers, we would have a little more certainty in terms of their judgment (with objective and subjective aspects) and the fact that it’s based on experience and not just momentary perceptions.”
Categories are carefully selected: Sativa, Indica, solvent extraction, CBD-rich varieties. Terms such as “resins” or “extractions” end up being rather non-specific and can lead to confusion. Creating specific “hydro”, “bio” or “outdoor” categories makes it very difficult to assert that the buds have been grown within these methods.
It was very nice to see the connection and fusion of different tribes, whether subcultures such as members of skateboarding and surfing community, musicians, artists, businessmen or regular visitors…for all of these is the herb Cannabis a common sign. They feel the same passion for this plant.
We believe that people will appreciate the positive effects of medical marijuana and society will make use of educational potential of events like Spannabis. Can you imagine, that only Spannabis itself attracted the attention of 30 000 people who visited it this year? We can see that it is able to raise awareness and destroy stereotypes about cannabis, so it makes sense to prepare next year.
